Pickups: Mosrite vs. hallmark

My Hallmark 60 has a 250K volume pot and a 500k or 1 meg, theoretically, should brighten up the sound.

Anybody change their Hallmark 250k volume pot to a 500k or 1meg and what were the subjective results?

My Hallmark used in the sound comparison in this thread has 500k pots. I changes them for just that reason, to brighten it up. It helped but I don't think it will ever sound like a Mosrite spot on. I do like the sound of the Hallmark with 500k pots though.

I also have a Hallmark 60 Custom and noticed it wasn't as Bright as my Mosrites. I haven't changed the Pots but did change the tone cap with great results. The stock cheap cap was replaced with an oil filled cap and it really brightens the pickups and makes a normally useless tone knob very usefull. With the tone rolled all the way off it sounds like a wha pedal half cocked instead of a blanket over the amp!! I never use it that way, I just barely roll it off in certain situations.
