I'll try and get a couple of pictures up tonight. It's morning here in Honolulu and I'm at work so I won't get to it till later.

Here's a couple of close-ups of the bridge area. Sorry for the picture quality - I only have a camera phone  .

Hope you can make it out from these.

Is that bridge on backwards? Is there an advantage to having it turned that way? Seems like it would be harder to make intonation adjustments ...

just a thought Byron: ...if you can manage to find a screw somewhere that can fit -EXACTLY- in one of your remaining acorn nuts, then you can always have a handy thread reference on you, wherever you go nut-hunting. Are they expensive? you can always consider replacing ALL SIX so you'll have a uniform set ...and 5 spare ones! ;)

Hmm, IDK!! Looks like a fine thread to me?! You can probably tell better than I can, does it look the same as Vincents thread size;

Because if the threads look the same size and pitch as these (standard US Mosrite screw) then I have a nut and washer I can send you..

Byron,
The next time you go to change strings, remove one of the saddle screws with the acorn nut and simply take it
to either one of the big chain stores, Home Depot or Loew's. They should be able to match it up, and if I had to
take a guess, it will most probably be metric size as well. But I don't think I would take a chance by trying to
'match the size' of someone elses guitar .....on a Monitor Screen ............
That most definitely is guaranteed to come out wrong almost everytime  .
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

The bridge is on backwards?!! I really had no idea until now. Well, I don't know if the whole bridge is on back a$$wards or if it's just the screws that are in backwards. I'll have to look when I get home today. Thanks Gattonfan.

Jason, thanks for the offer but I think I'll take Dennis's advice and just remove the strings and take one of the screws and acorn nuts with me to Home Depot or Loew's. It's probably the simplest way to go about it.

I actually have 2 older digital cameras and they both are pretty crappy, so I only use my Motorola Razr camera phone, so again I'm sorry for the fuzzy pictures. One of these days I'll get a new one - they're cheap enough.

Thanks for all the input.

Byron,

First off, I do not think you will find what you need at Lowes or Home Depot. You are going to need a metric size acorn nut and I doubt they will have anything but American standard or American machine size threads.

I have a MIJ bridge from Kurokumo (spelling ?) off an Excellent model and one from a Hallmark. The nuts are similar in appearance but the Hallmark looks to be a little longer. Since both bridges are mounted and strung up on a guitar, I do not know the actual size you will need. But I'm about 99% certain they are both of metric size threads.

Since the acorn nut is basically cosmetic and doesn't effect the bridge post, you could probably get away with retapping with a metric tap from a nut purchased from a local hardware store but the aesthetic profile will no doubt be different. One other possible source for acorn nuts is a hobby shop for radio controlled model airplanes and cars. If all else fails try ordering direct from Japan.

Danny, you might be right about that, I'm not sure if the 2 chains carry metric size Nationwide.
I can only speak for the ones here in Broward County (Ft. Lauderdale, Plantation, Davie, etc.).
And this might be just a local thing sorta speak. I can vouch for these locations only :? .....
