Nokie Edward's String Gauge

Hello, does anyone here know what string gauge Nokie Edwards use during his tour with the Ventures in Japan during the 60's? I am currently practicing all their songs with 12s and I would like to know if these are a bit too much of an overkill.

I'm sure other people will chime in but I've ready numerous places that Nokie uses thin strings. How thin is thin? Not sure but not 12's I'm guessing!

Thanks for the reply! I actually asked on SG101 too and the guys there said Nokie used 9s. It was surprising to me.
