Mosrite Avenger

Postby ben132 » Mon Nov 10, 2008 4:37 pm

I'm having a very hard time pricing my mosrite avenger. It looks like a gibson les paul with a sun burst finish. It say mosrite avenger on head and made in japan on the back. never seen a mosrite copy like it or the real deal any help would be great.

That is for sure not a Mosrite. Something like that would put Semie in all sorts of legal red tape.

Are you the original owner of the guitar? I think the person who applied the decal had delusions of grangier. I think that everyone here can agree that Semie Mosely was all about original designs and not about emulating. But I could be wrong. Kevin

Looks like a right-handed decal on a left-handed neck...the double fret markers indicate that the neck may have come from some kind of Mosrite copy (with the wrong headstock shape), but the rest of it is generic asian Les Paul copy, hate to break it to ya but it doesn't really have any significant value. Hope you're not expecting to get much for it.

That is an Avenger. They made a variety of models including the Mark I copy, a Celebrity copy, and yes, an LP copy.

The Japanese Mosrite Co. had also made a 'STRAT' Copy that I remember seeing on the Internet somewhere. I just tried a search and came up wiith nothing, it might of been on another Forum. It was like a C.A.R. Finish, but everything about it was screaming a Strat all the way down to the P'ups and the Fender Headstock. HOWEVER, it DID SAY MOSRITE on the Headstock, but I'm just not sure if it was an Avenger.....

I think that strat copy with the Mosrite logo was by a different brand and came from the '90s. Avenger guitars had more of that '60s/'70s bizarre cheap Japanese flair to them. I've even seen a Barney Kessel / Trini Lopez Avenger copy...

Adam, now that I'm thinking about this, I also recall a bad copy of a
Jazzmaster with the Mosrite Logo on the Headstock as well....... :|
