Something very scary

Postby ElectronK » Fri Oct 31, 2008 4:13 pm

Since it is halloween (and my reason for coming to this forum) I felt I should share something truely horrifing with the forum.

I have a chance to buy(maybe) a really interested 65 mosrite. I'm considering restoring it, but I'm still in college so I don't really have the money.

Mosrite fans beware, these pictures are truly scary.

OMG! :o

Well, I'd say if the price is right, buy it. ;)

Wow, I bet someone regrets making those "enhancements"

On the bright side, all the hardware looks original. The headstock can be repaired with a filler piece to restore the original shape. The body, well, I'd probably make a new one.

If it's reasonably priced, it's definitely a restorable project. Play it as it is until you have the time, skills and money to make it right.

I haven't been this horrified since the first time I saw The Exorcist!
We can only thank God Semie isn't here to see this atrocity.

Holy sh*t, I don't know whether to laugh or cry! The crazy thing is that someone actually thought they were making an improvement.

It's horrible what some people are capaple of doing! The ghost of the original shape will probably haunt that poor thing forever and ever...
This concludes my report from outer space. Now, back to studio!

I've seen worse! Like a 63 CAR Strat with holes drilled like the ones here, but a lot more of them. Or an old Strat with the top cutaway carved into a snake. Sometimes they are really cool looking, sometimes they are just screwed up like this one.

Dennis: What looks wrong regarding the parts?

Dennis: What looks wrong regarding the parts?

1) Although the Headstock is deeply cut in the center (where the "M" Carve would be),
the section flairing out on the Treble Side (E, B, G strings) seems to go 'beyond' the
Normal Cut for a Mosrite H'stock.
2) Only a Single layered P'guard, those were only on '63s, with a possibility of some VERY EARLY '64s.
3) Washer Nut holding the Toggle Switch is not the common round washer nut, but that of (again) '63s.
However, I am by no means suggesting that this is/was a '63.
4) The Jewel Knobs are correct for a '65, but.....where's the Vibramute??
5) Strap Buttons and Tuners have been replaced...

BTW, where is bullet riddled '63 Strat? I didn't see it.
