For Sale: Vintage Mosrite 1966 The Ventures Model RED

Postby fivedollarsheep » Mon Jul 23, 2012 4:49 pm

Hey guys had this guitar for a while. Cleaned it up and had it looked over by a professional Luthier with over 40 years of experience to check for any warping in the neck or other major problems. It has all of its original hardware and is in great condition considering its age and considered to others for sale. The serial number imprinted on the neck matches the same imprinted under the pick guard. I personally really never played it much but there is some wear to it, however the case looks like it took the majority of the aging, bumps and scratches. There is only one chip on the guitar where it took off the finish and paint, besides for that like I said it is in great condition considering. The ONLY little problem is when you turn the tone volume below like 3 or 4 you lose sound. This can be due to a defective wire or capacitor and is a fairly easy fix, I would have had somebody do it myself but I usually only ever really play with the tone up to around 8-max so it didn’t bother me at all, plus I didn’t really play it. Both pickups do work and sing beautifully. Included for free is a “Play Guitar with the Ventures: Volume 3” album I found at a garage sale and always kept with it because the kid and band are playing the same guitar and color on the cover. Let’s just start the asking price at $3,000, but it is NEGOTIABLE I am only starting it high, remember the same exact guitar can be found on ebay starting its asking price at $5,999. I like to believe I will go a lot lower than him.

Okay, last call before I send this to ebay. I am currently only looking for $1,800 (plus shipping), that is $1,200 less then what I originally put a while back. Consider it a friendly gift. The price is still negotiable, but I'm not going to be moving that much from this price though. Remember that there are similar guitars on ebay for $5,000-$6,000 and are in worse condition then mine, I will have absolutely no trouble getting above my current asking price. ALSO I am having an electrical engineer who works with guitars fix the capacitor issue so now the buyer no longer has to worry about spending the $10 on fixing it. SO it will be in 100% playing condition for the buyer (it may be a week or even a month before it is fixed, the guy is doing it for free as a favor and I don't wanna rush him, I will reply to this post when it is fixed). Now hurry up on a steal of an early Christmas present, or make an investment on this low low price. (I am only doing this because I moved and no longer have room to store it, and only played it twice since my original post.)

I will be accepting offers until it's wiring/capacitor is fixed. Then it will go on ebay and you will be forced into taking your chances there

Thanks to Jason for working with me on the purchase of this guitar...Jason has proven to be an honest, sincere person, and worked out a price that was within my budget yet was less than he was later offered. He stuck with me though he had been offered more after my original offer, I received the guitar Friday, and it was exactly as he described. I am happy with the Mosrite, and am also happy I don't have to post pictures (which I haven't quite figured out yet) as those interested can look at the pics Jason posted.
I still have to post pics of the Ventures 12 string, D-100 Californian, and doubleneck I purchased recently and promise to try to post pics of them this weekend...barring my ineptitude with electric computing devices!
Scott
