Deke & the Bakersfield Sound show
I've attached a link to a YouTube video with Deke Dickerson hosting the show at the Bakersfield Sound exhibit in Nashville a couple of weeks ago. The video is a little over two hours long but if you can, take the time and watch it. I watched it in segments over two day's and it was really great to see a few of the last remaining legends that put Bakersfield on the map. It was a special treat for me to see Dennis Payne as I had jammed and made some home recordings with him and my brother back in 1966. That was the last time I saw him. A couple of years ago my son found those old recordings and converted them to mp3. Dennis was a smokin' guitar player then and is even better today. Red Simpson is on the last half of the video. Although he's 78 years old and his voice breaks while singing, he' is still a great performer with a lot of funny off the cuff comments.

Thanks Danny for posting this. There was some real fancy guitar picking at that event from some of the great pickers. Thanks again for a real treat.

Re: Deke & the Bakersfield Sound show
Thanks for posting that. Great show!
A bass player named Mickey Worley, whom I played with in the '70's, grew up with Gene Breeden in the San Joaquin Valley. He was always telling me what a great player Gene was. We were always working, so I never got to hear Gene--we were playing in the San Jose area and Gene was up in Vancouver, WA--a little far to drive on a whim on our one day off a week! It's nice to finally hear Gene on this show--teriffic player, and so is everybody else on there.
