New from Massachusetts

Postby vetovideo » Wed Dec 29, 2010 2:09 pm

Like a lot of guys my age, the 60's music grabbed us hard and we all HAD to learn to play guitar. The birth of garage bands, getting a group together in the cellar or just learning how to play on a discarded guitar or something you bought at Salvation Army gave rise to an army of wanna be musicians. Myself, I learned on a six string that I found in the shed. Loved playing 'rhythm' guitar but there were too many of them. If I wanted to be in the band, I needed to play bass. A little hard to come by in those days so I saved my money and bought a Sears "Silvertone" bass and not only learned to play but found I loved to play bass too! Worked hard, played hard and in June of 1967 bought a REAL bass guitar ...... Ventures model Mosrite!! HAD to have it. My friend had the dual pick-up blue and his bandmate had the same blue colored 6 string. Just couldn't get past the sound or the looks (you ALL know just what I mean)! I could only afford the single pick-up but I didn't care. I still own that wonderous starburst colored piece of history along with it's original hard shell case. It may not look as nice as a lot of the pictures you've posted here but it's all original and has never been reworked OR played by anyone else. I'm just here to see what everyone has to say about what I consider one of the best solid body basses EVER built.

Nicely put vetvideo and nice story too! (Good that you are able to say you still have your good ol' Mo' Bass! Too many of us have sad tales to tell of 'lost loves' )

Anyway, welcome and enjoy your stay! ;)

Great introduction and thanks for the story. We do have some bass players here so I'm sure they'll chime in.

hi Vetovideo........welcome to the forum.....I'm sure that Mosrite bass is great! I've owned a Fender Precision bass, and played it, and I would play a Mosrite bass anytime.....Mosrite makes everything top-shelf!
