Replace mosrite bridge

Postby rynaro » Fri Nov 19, 2010 5:00 pm

Hey guys i love my mosrite but i find it goes out of tune easily, this is fine because you just pull the trem up a tiny bit and allthe strings come back in tune but its annoying.
I want to replace the bridge with a tune-o-matic or something along those lines.
i am not a tech so something that can fit straight on is what i need.
any sugestions??

Have you lubed the nut? Are you sure the rollers roll? Are your tuners worn out? There's lots of things you should check before replacing the bridge.

lubed the nut? no
Rollers roll? yes perfectly
tuners worn out? they seem fine, they don't seem to move (unwantingly move i mean)

i'll try to lube the nut, any recomendations of lube to use?

The issue is far more likely at the nut than the bridge. On my Partsrite, I swapped in a different string guide and the problem went away. If the lub doesn't help I'd try that before replacing the bridge.

That Nut Sauce should do the trick. I've recommended to it a lot of people in the past. I was introduced to it by some folks at the NAMM Show a few years ago and forgot about. I tried it out on one of our prototypes awhile back and was very impressed with it. Graphite lubricant should work too, or even some Chapstick.
How dare you presume to inject, using reproducible facts and rational thought, an on-topic discussion into a thread that had degenerated from sarcasm, personal invective, and hand-waving arguments?

Ryan, I went back and reread your 1st post.
Hey guys i love my mosrite but i find it goes out of tune easily, this is fine because you just pull the trem up a tiny bit and allthe strings come back in tune but its annoying.
IMO, it sounds more like there may be a problem with the TREM system, in which it may be hanging up (getting stuck) when you release the arm. Another words, something
might be interrupting the trem arm from making a full return......
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Ryan, did you have any luck finding the problem?

I just changed the strings to a lighter more comfortable gauge and the nut fell off!!! i think that could be the trouble, i will get some glue and put a few drops on to stick it down to see if that fixes my woes!
