Hello from Akron, Ohio

Postby equalizerjag » Tue Sep 14, 2010 5:53 pm

Hi everybody my name is Jeff Scott. I got into Mosrites just like a lot of you, by growing up with The Ventures, Iron Butterfly, Love, MC5, Ramones, etc. I've been playing guitar for ~35 years, mostly on a vintage Les Paul but enjoy Mosrites more. I'm a commercial artist/luthier and formerly a shipwright. I also restore classic cars.
This helps me when I create my own guitars; several of which are Mosrite inspired.

I'm the one who bought the Mosrite CelebrityIII bass, on ebay recently, that was badly smashed. I also bought the matching neck separately. (sn# z0055) I have already started to repair the damage and restore the rest of the guitar. Being 24 1/2" scale, I'm going to convert the bass to a 6 string guitar. I'll also be using Ed Elliott's pick-ups, which are super great- have used the before.

I'm looking for an original inside body decal or photocopy that I can create new art to reproduce. I'll post pictures as the guitar is being repaired/restored.

I love this site and am glad to be a new member. Looking forward to participating here, you all seem to be pretty cool people. Btw the way, thanks, Sarah.

-Jeff

Welcome aboard Jeff, just saw your photos of the 'recovery process' of your CEL III on the
"Mosrite & Clone, Projects, Parts & Accessories Q&A" Thread. That is one heck of a job you did! ;)
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Welcome to the forum Jeff. It's funny you mention the decal. I was just thinking recently of making reproductions for exactly this purpose. I'll contact my graphic artist and see what we can come up with.

What a cool story Jeff, yeah, cars and guitars...they seem to go well together :D
It must be such a grand feeling to be having when you've succeeded in restoring an object to it's former glory...and -as close as you can- to have it in it's original state. I love watching restorations being done on vintage cars too but always feel rather disappointed really when one undergoes a 'pimp' job or 'muscle car' treatment. But that's just me; I guess it's because I grew up with what are now known to be vintage cars. Welcome to the forum ;)
