Greetings from Indiana!

Postby Aimlessharmony » Thu Sep 09, 2010 3:15 pm

Hey everybody!

My name is Amy and I am a 3rd generation musical instrument retailer from Indianapolis, IN.
Arthur's Music Store was started by my grandfather in 1952, and is now owned and operated by my mother and I. Arthur's Music sold Mosrite guitars in the mid '60's...
I've worked at the music store for 15 years now, and 5 years ago I started professionally appraising and selling vintage instruments through the store and on Ebay. In the last month I've had 3 customers ask about consigning their Mosrites.
Mosrite has always been a brand that makes me happy, but I don't know as much about them as I would like to. I do know that when you are stuck, it's best to ask the experts, and that's you guys!! ;)

If you don't mind, when I get some pictures of these beauties, I may get back on here to "pick" your brains (pun very much intended) about anything I'm unfamiliar with.

Thank you much! Looking forward to chatting with you folks! :D

Oh! Forgot to mention... If anyone is interested, our Ebay name is VintageGuitarGirlz. We don't have an online store, but try to have something cool to bid on all the time.

Thanks!

Thank you all for the warm welcome!! :)

Waldorf- We have filing cabinets lining the back of the basement with tons of old catalogs/brochures and paperwork inside. The last time one was opened, we found service records for every Kustom Amp we had ever sold or repaired from 1968-1980. From that info, I extrapolated a whole range of serial numbers for the guys on the Kustom forum that they thought were lost forever.

Recently while snooping, I found a stack of 1968 Gibson brochures that fold out into posters, all still shrinkwrapped together. I sold those individually on Ebay (through the store). We got I think $5-$6 per, but more importantly got a lot of collectors flipping out at the sheer cool-ness of the find! Money is great, but it's worth so much more to see grown men geek out! lol

Haven't found anything Mosrite yet, but we have more hiding places than I can count. If something comes up, y'all will be the first to know! :D
