Hi !
I thinking about buying a Mosrite guitar and don have the money to buy the "real" one (I play bass in may band and want to spend most of my money on bassguitars...) and I am wondering if should go for a Hallmark or a Eastwood ? Wich one is best ? I also looking for a hardcase for my Mosrite Mark II Bass anyone who knows where I can buy that ?

Re: Eastwood or Hallmark ???
I tried an Eastwood once, A Hi Flyer model. It didn't sound like a Mosrite at all from my recollection, The only thing it had going for it when I played it was that the body shape was comfortable. On the other hand I keep hearing that Hallmarks are as close as you can get next to the reissues. But as of this writing I haven't played a Hallmark.

HALLMARK!!! Eastwoods are only shaped like a Mosrite but sound nothing like a Mosrite. Don't get me wrong, Eastwood sells quality stuff but those Sidejacks are just about the shape.
Call Bob Shade and ask if they have a case that can fit your bass, if he doesn't he might know someone who does.

Re: Eastwood or Hallmark ???
I've stayed out of this conversation because until this morning I had not played an Eastwood. But I was visiting a pawn shop with my son this morning and they had a fairly new Hi-Flyer hanging there on the wall. I can't say how it sounded because we could not get any signal out of it. That might be an easy fix though. The neck felt a lot like my Gibson double cut Les Paul. That's the closest thing that came to my mind. The body shape was close, but the sculpturing was off. The vibrato was too tight for my liking and the bridge looked awfully narrow. Intonation might be questionable.
To make a long story short, the comparison to a Hallmark is not exactly apples to apples. The guitar seemed to be of reasonable build quality, but nothing compared to the Custom 60, which I own by the way. If I had bought the Eastwood first and then played the Hallmark, the Eastwood would have been for sale pretty quickly.
Just my thoughts.
