Hi everyone!!!
While I am a new member here, I have been browsing this forum off and on for a long time. I've found some great info here, some interesting stories and of course...some great people.
I am mainly into surf & country. Early surf (not the newer stuff) and by country I mean stuff from the 1920s to about the Mid-70s. My other big love is instrumental guitar and steel guitar music.
I am a HUGE Joe Maphis fan and I am TOTALLY enthralled & fascinated by the big double-necks that Joe Maphis, Larry Collins and all the others played. I LOVE the look and sound of those axes...to me, that is the ultimate in style and tone. I've wanted one ever-since the first time I seen one in a photo.
I am also a huge fan of Standel amps and just about anything that Paul Bigsby made.
I have an appreciation for the Deke Dickerson Model Hallmarks and the old Univox Hi-Flyers as well. The other modern Mosrite imitations intrigue me as well...especially the Fullerton Mo-Vibes.
I look forward to learning tons of stuff here from the forum.
Happy Holidays,
Casey

Hey Casey, great intro! Welcome aboard...now pick up an oar and start rowing!...
BTW "The Fourth Horseman" also seems to be a Heavy Metal band but that could purely be coincidental with regard to your using it for a user name

Re: New Member from the Midwest
Welcome to this corner of the internet, Casey. I'm open minded to music so I've listened to some country music. Mostly Neko Case's songs (Most of her songs I've heard are lonely but I like them nonetheless, Maybe Sparrow is a really powerful song) But I've also listened to some Joe Maphis, Merle Travis and Stringbean songs. I'd like to learn how to play guitar like Joe and Merle.
