Another New Member Says Hello

Postby guitarslinger1 » Tue Sep 22, 2009 8:19 am

Hello everyone…I’ve just joined the Mosrite Forum following a discussion with Fritz and Mel last Sunday at the Daikaiju/PDM show at the Hotel Utah. I had asked Mel about preferred setups for a Ventures Mosrite and he gave me some great tips as well as this website for further information. I’ve played guitar all of my life, and still have my 1965 Stratocaster that I bought for $200 in 1968 when I was in high school, along with a handful of other guitars I’ve picked up along the way over the last 40 years (Vox phantom, Rickenbacker 325, Gibson SG, Martin D41 and a few old Strats). Why am I here, well, I’ve also have a late 80s/early 90’s, Japanese-made candy apple red Ventures Mosrite with matching headstock I’m currently playing in a surf band in the SF bay Area with my old Strat as the main guitar, however, based on my drummers’ urging, he wants me to incorporate the Mosrite sound into some of our songs…so here I am and I’m looking forward to accessing everything Mosrite right here.

Thanks...bruce

Welcome Bruce; enjoyed your interesting intro!
...for a change no sad tales of regrets having sold this or that guitar ;)
Enjoy the forum ...and of course, if possible share some pics of what you have. Good that you still have your '65 Strat and also a nice CAR Mosrite; I for one would be interested to know how you'll be 'getting along' with the latter...especially after having played Strats for so long?

Tread carefully though when judging a Mosrite's thin neck...which can sometimes become a highly sensitive area right here in the lion's den :D

Welcome, Bruce. You're lucky to have so many good guitars, Boy I'd like to play a 60s Strat! If you would like to hear some different Mosrite sounds then The B-52's are it, They introduced me to Mosrite in the first place and although I haven't been listening as much lately the sounds of Ricky's Mosrite guitars still make me want one. :)
