New forum member and Mosrite owner

Postby Sidejack63 » Sun Apr 19, 2009 9:25 am

Hi Gang,
I just joined the forum and love the wealth of info and enthusiasm about all things Mosrite. I've owned a 1966 Ventures model Mosrite for many years. It's Candy Apple Metalic blue and in pristine condition since I'm the original buyer/owner. Yesterday at the Dallas Guitar Show, I met up with Dana Moseley and purchased my new baby. A Mosrite Original, made-in-USA sunburst '63 sidejack, serial number 0002. I'm as happy as a new papa. Anyway, I look forward to meeting a few new online friends and talking shop about Mosrites, The Ventures, etc.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new mosrite. How does it compare to your 66 and what did you pay for it? Kevin

That's great Sidejack63, Welcome!
Since you're talking in the past tense about your '66 Mo'...what happened to it? ...on second thoughts, don't bother answering that awkward question...
Good that you have your new 'baby'!

Hi gang,
Thanks for all the kind replys. I'll try and answer a few of the questions that's come up.
1. I still have my 1966 Mosrite Ventures model s/n 3032. I'll keep it forever.
2. I sent some pictures of the new '63 to Danny and he said he will post them for me. Thanks Danny.
3. Playability: Honestly, it plays a whole lot nicer than my '66, at least for my playing style. The action is still really low but the frets are taller then the '66 so it's easier to do bends and slides. Dana said she can still make the classic low fret style if someone wants one.
4. Sound: Pure Mosrite!!! The sustain on the new '63 is better than the '66 but that may be due to the set neck, newness, or just because it is so well made!!
5. At the Dallas Guitar Show Dana said that Artie got S/N 0001, I got S/N 0002. Both are sunburst. S/N 0003 and 0004 were at the show. Both were red. I'm not sure who bought them.
