FUZZrite Box Questions

Hi gang,
I am building some Fuzzrite style boxes this weekend and had a few questions for you.

Would you guys prefer the boxes to be cold rolled or stainless? With cold rolled, I need to plate and polish them.

3PDT or standard switch (LED and D/C option)

I plan on having the slide switch mounted but not wired.

Eyelet point to point board or encapsulated?

I hope it is not out of line to ask the forums opinion on this subject.

Hey are you the BossTone guy? Or whatever you're calling them now.

If you're going for the original look brushed stainless works for me, but standard boxes w/ ac adapter jack work better in pedalboards.

Yes and I think the stainless is the way to go. The D/C jack could be added as well as an LED. On this pedal there is no mistaking if it is on or not.

I'm all about the Acid Tone!! Post up some sound clips when you can. Also, am I missing something about the acid tone/wah.. where is the treadle?

Hi,

The side mounted pot works the wah, it is not for everyone. The Wahsp started out as a fixed wah. I soon got the idea of a side mounted pot. It is not for everyone and it is a little different.

A BossTone and a FuzzRite in one box! Way cool!

What does the switch between the controls do?

Did Roland come after you regarding the word Boss, or did someone else object to the BossTone name?

In any case, very nicely done. Really high quality looking stuff there.

Well it was the Roland corperation, I did everything on the up and up with the USPTO. Roland objected to the name and not wanting to harm their sales, I caved in and changed the name. It is an incredible pedal and that Jordan lineup is amazing. The switch removes the clipping diodes from the BuzzTone. This simple mod allows the Buzztone to become a completly different animal. We are in Fuzz Heaven over here.

I got the boxes done and they turned out very nice. Here is a few shots of the box layout I snapped off my PC.





I went with a 9V D/C power jack and a 5mm LED and a 3PDT EH true bypass switch. The PCB board is very cool and I have them mounted to weld stand-off inside for a super clean wiring. This is one the cleanest layouts I have seen and this has been a fun project.

The components are carbon comp resistors and ceramic disc caps. We have an incredible sounding set of transistors and this has been a fun project. I should be posting photos of the finished units early next week.

If they're built anything like your other stuff, they should be great fuzzes.

Now here's a question that I know will come up eventually:
Will your battery cover door directly replace an original Mosrite FuzzRite door?

I see originals all the time that are missing the battery door. And just like missing guitar whammy bars, I'll bet that there is a fair sized market for replacements.
