The other day I commented on this YouTube post :arrow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAISXyCIi_s
Phil McGarrick is playing his Strat COPY with Fender logo (decal on headstock).
Perhaps you may find it interesting to read my comment [Veenture1] and the owner's response about the Fender headstock decal on his non-Fender guitar.

Very interesting...my concern comes when this guitar gets into the (uninformed) hands of someone (say through inheritance), and they attempt to sell it as the real McCoy, because it says so, right on the headstock! The old argument, "Ignorance is no excuse," has been upheld in courts all too often, to the significant loss of many people... I just think that any form of representation that can be misleading in any way has to be viewed with some suspicion before a person embarks into "emulating" someone else's work.

His answer was, he takes it as a compliment (or something like that) that his guitars were being replicated. If anyone (Dennis) remembers where to find that interview please let me know.

Dub;
Is this what you are referring to...
It's Modern Guitar Magazine.

if anyone remembers the "mosleycaster" my brother made. it had a fender repacement neck on it. fender did give him a warning not to make and sell them, but wasn't concerned with a one off guitar made for himself.

Though he was often outspoken, one argument that I happen to agree with from the late Ed Roman was to stay away from "vintage" guitars for this very reason. I wonder how many fakes have been bought and sold for thousands or tens of thousands of dollars over the years? :(
How dare you presume to inject, using reproducible facts and rational thought, an on-topic discussion into a thread that had degenerated from sarcasm, personal invective, and hand-waving arguments?
