I wonder how many of us started out with Teisco guitars. My first guitar, a Teisco-made Silvertone 1435, was purchased from the Panama City, Florida, Sears store in 1965.
It had a terrible action and I was too ignorant to realize that could be adjusted. By the time I knew that, the neck was too bowed for any improvement.
It did not have the zero fret, which, in those olden days, we somehow associated with European-made instruments.

Re: Teisco-rific!
First bass was a Teisco, weird metallic blue thing with J-bass style-ish pups, but sliders for on-off, aluminum brushed-polished alternate striped pickguard and 3-1 headstock tuner config.
$52.00 new, $4 for non-fitting chipboard case. Surprisingly, it was not the worst bass on earth. 'Gave it to a buddy after having it...14 years?

Re: Teisco-rific!
Ooh nice find.
It's shape is also found on the Sekova Bison, Eko Kadet, I've seen them branded as Kay too.
Mine is the same shape, but a different pickup config and less ornate scratch plate.
Sounds amazing through my Delta Blues.
Really needs a setup, but the neck is nice.
Pics are on my blog.

Re: Teisco-rific!
Added another late 60's offest guitar to my collection.
a cream Tokai Humming Bird, the one with the curved horn.
It's needing some TLC, but I've noticed that it has no truss rod. What's the story there?
The neck feels ok and looks straight. So I guess it should be fine if I don't go any heavier than 10's?
