Any Ric 12 string fans in the house?

I don't get to play 12 strings too often, but it seems like to me tuning is always an issue on any I've ever played.

Hey, Aaron--

You know the old joke about 12-string players, right? They spend half the time tuning their guitars, and the other half the time playing out of tune.

I had a 12-string Rickenbacker 330-12 and restringing it was a nightmare until I learned to take off the tailpiece and put the strings in the slots and then put making tape over them to hold them in the grooves. After the guitar was strung up correctly, I'd pull off the masking tape.

My cat, Smitty, who loves to watch closely any guitar-stringing activity, went nuts over that 12-string Rick.

I finally turned my Rick 330-12 into a six-string and liked it much better. I took off the six backward-facing tuners and plugged the holes in the headstock with some black plastic plugs I found at Home Depot. Worked great and made for a swell six-string electric guitar.
