"X" in Mark V Serial #

Postby kotadawg » Fri Dec 19, 2008 2:19 pm

The person I just bought my Ventures MK I from sent me a photo of a Silverburst Mark V. He said the serial number has an "X" in it. Any significance to this? Thanks.

I have seen this guitar. It is a amazingly clean Mosrite (First I thought it was a refinished, but was told it was a factory finish, they have a brochure to prove it) It is a Little pricey for me but if you collect Mosrites in unusual colors, it is for you. If you are not too far away from its location, you ought to play it then decide.

BTW, welcome to our forum!

Thanks. It's on it's way to North Carolina, so the only way I'm playing it is if I buy it. Could you tell me where you saw it and do you know what they were asking?

Thats a real nice guitar, not sure what the X stands for, maybe a custom?? Heres a better pic from the site, if its that clean $3800 is quite a bit for a MKV model but IMO, worth it as its so unusual. Did he give you the serial? looks like an early MKV to me with no truss rod cover at the headstock...

The sunburst is pretty reasonable considering its in pretty good shape, though no OHSC..

Sure, this is the only one I have atm, I've just put her in with a local luthier to have a service, one fret (22nd) is slightly high and I really didnt want to do this myself, so can't get any other shots!
