Hi, I'm a fan of The Ventures and Mosrite Guitars going all the way back to my juvenile years in the 1960's. I love pretty much every record The Ventures ever released, but I have to admit their songwriting genius became more and more evident starting with the Mosrite era. From The Ventures In Space LP all the way through Guitar Freakout, I was totally in love with their originals.
It wasn't until I'd graduated High School that I was able to gather together the funds to start playing electric guitars like my heroes had. In 1971, I purchased a Sunburst 1964 Fender Jazzmaster, and a Candy Apple Blue 1966 Ventures Mosrite guitar. There was no such thing back then as a "vintage" or "collector" market, so I bought each guitar for around $110.00. Since then I've bought and sold numerous Fenders and Mosrites, many Mosrite copies, including Eastwood, Univox, Aria, Dillion, Mosrite of Classics, etc. In more recent years I also owned and loved several of the Wilson Bros. Ventures model guitars, all superior quality instruments.
From 1998 through 2008 I was songwriter and Lead Guitarist in Longboard Ranch, an instro band with heavy influences from both The Ventures and Classic Surf Music. We released two self-produced commercial-grade CD's, and you can read the reviews for yourself on reverbcentral.com, where Phil Dirt reviewed and rated virtually every surf/instro recording ever produced, (or at least, so it seems).
I've sold quite a bit of gear in the last several years, and I happened onto a few special Never-Used, but original vintage Mosrite items. Marty Tippens urged me to post here, about the Mosrite items, as he felt certain members would have a strong interest in hearing specifics about them. That's why I registered NOW, although I've been meaning to do so for years, literally.
In Summer 2013 I am working with another classic instrumental band guitarist, a former member of the Jet Blacks, one of Brazil's most popular instro bands of the 1960's, putting together a general surf/rockabilly flavored band that will play a number of covers of The Shadows, in addition to traditional American fare. I've written enough for now, so Hello everyone, and I'm glad to be here, at last.

Welcome to the forum, Bruce. The bandname 'Longboard Ranch' sounds quite familiar. I got to check if I have one of your CDs

Welcome Bruce! As a lifetime SF Bay Area resident, I heard Phil Dirt's program Saturday's on KFJC many moons ago, and listened religiously until he retired. Glad to have you on the forum!
