Sarah's Celebrities

Postby wombat » Sun Jul 25, 2010 12:27 pm

http://www.mosritecelebrity.com/

This morning, I clicked the link to the site that Sarah has been slaving away at...... and it opened up!!
Very classy looking layout! I commend you.

As far as I know, it's not 100% yet. At least I wasn't able to access everything there.

I was looking at a few '72 Celebrities when I saw one that had the burst around the F holes like mine, when saw the serial number and shouted, "That IS mine!" :D

Hi all. I was going to get more uploaded before I told you it was up. I didn't want to disappoint. I figured out what was crashing my software. The site is just too massive. Once I figured out I had to upload one page at a time, it's finally working. Keepin mind that most of the images I have are large in size so the pages will load slowly. It takes me 45 minutes to 2 hours to upload one page!

Most important to me is to be accurate with information so feedback is greatly appreciated. I'm taking the afternoon off to clean my sailboat so more pages will upload this evening. Enjoy!

I've been checking for the last week, probably a dozen times a day for an announcement.

I just knew this would happen when I was at the cabin on dial-up

From what I can see its killer...........
But I have to wait till tomorrow when I get back to DSL to really dive in and enjoy.

MosriteCelebrity.com is alive!

Well, I can finally announce that the website is online! You have no idea how many hours this took. Actually, I don't have any idea either!

It is definitely a labor of love. The upload alone took approximately 20 hours to get it online. Let me say right off the bat that this website is photo intensive and the photos are as large as I received them. I want people to be able to zoom in and see great detail so I did not shrink any of them. If you have a slower internet connection the page may take a few minutes to load, but I hope it is worth the wait.

Most important to me is that I have accurate information on this site. So please let me know if you spot something that is incorrect. I am also open to any feed back to improving this site.

I know I can be guilty of "paralysis by perfection" so I just had to bite the bullet and stop working on the site just to get it online. I already have a rather large update to do and that will follow. At the bottom of each page will be a revision date so you can tell if anything has changed. I will also put an area someplace to log the revisions so people won't have to grope around to find the changes.

There you have it folks, I hope you enjoy and I look forward to any feedback!

Sarah

PS to Danny: I figured this belonged in the Links area but did not think everyone would look there so that's why I put it here. If you need to move it now or later, that's cool. If you have other ideas I am wide open for them as well. Once you've had a look around you can see that to put the information directly on the forum would be huge.

A couple of aspects of Sarah's Website are really nifty. One is the Photoshopped images of Mosrites in the world of history and art; those are really funny and well-done.

The other is the graphic design of the Website itself and the choices that Sarah has made for different graphic elements. The header, for example, has a headstock that has foil under the lacquer, and it is almost hypnotically beautiful. I have never seen such a thing on a guitar before and can only imagine how difficult it must have been for Semie, or his staff, to create.

Good job, Sarah!!!

Is that the all time best Mosrite head stock, or what?
