Hey--

Nothing takes longer than a new Website. I run the Creative and Branding department at the American College of Cardiology in Washington, and we just launched our revised Website a month ago:
www.cardiosource.org

It took many people months to get it ready and now that it is live, we are finding millions of little tweaks, corrections, and revisions that cannot be ignored.

So I commiserate with Sarah. A new Website is a big job. But, having said all that:

IS IT READY YET?!?!?!? Huh? Huh?

Almost! I worked on it until 2:00 am and back at it again at 7:00. It will go live today but as Jim said there will be updates, that I already know. I've found even more information that I haven't even sifted through yet so I know there will be a rather large revision due immediately. With that said though, I think I'll wait for a month before I post the first revision, just to take a break. I have other project I really want to get on, and it's summertime!

I am not a happy camper right now. I just put about 4 hours of work into the website and the stupid program just crashed and closed on it's own and did NOT save any of the changes I had made. My eyeballs are shot and I'm going to bed! Now I'll have to put another 5-6 hours in to finish and hopefully can recreate what I lost tonight. :(

All that work and effort for nothing. I once lost my homebrew Ventures data base I had been working on for such a long time and had to start all over again from scratch. Computers are a blessing and a curse at the same time. Take a break Sarah and launch ONLY when you yourself feel comfortable with it :)

Great advice! As much as I have kidded you, there is no rush or deadline. Sorry that you had computer problems.

Sarah,
I got back from a gig last nite with excitement to see the new Website, only to read that your computer went out on strike.
Why don't you just take a day or two rest from it, that way you'll feel a little more refreshed when you go back to it? ;)
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Nah, that's not my style. I felt sorry for myself and went to bed all mad and everything. Now it just ticks me off! The other thing that ticks me off a bit is that I own an excellent web authoring software called Dreamweaver that is pretty expensive. My best friends husband wanted to borrow it about 1 1/2 years ago so I just handed him my entire library of disks. Dumb move #1. Then I neglected to follow up because I didn't really need anything. Dumb move #2. Then when I decided to build this site I couldn't find my software because I didn't even write myself a note who I lended it to. Dumb move #3! After tearing the place apart and thinking about it for a couple of weeks, it clicked, and I remembered loaning it to him. When I asked for it they both said, "Gee I think we gave that back".

So I was miffed and went to Frys and bought a rather inexpensive program for $35, by a company called Serif. After about three months into designing this website my friend called me and they found my software while cleaning their garage. Grrr!

It's too late to start over in Dreamweaver, but I hope once it's uploaded on the internet that I can download it into Dreamweaver. We'll see.

I'm all done feeling sorry for myself so now I'm back at it! I'll work on it all tonight and probably tomorrow night and that should do it! My fingers are crossed and I hope yours are too!
