Advice on Ed Roman Shop

Postby marsman » Wed Nov 18, 2009 12:50 pm

I will be in Las Vegas in a few weeks and need anyone's opinion is it worth going to
Ed Roman shop to look at his line of Mosrite's. Are his prices out of line and do you think
I can get a fair deal with them??

Any input pro or con will be appreciated.

Thanks

My suggestion to anyone would be to do some 'researching' first, right here on the Forum even by using the "search" facility (see menu at the top righthand corner of our Mosrite Forum page). Simply type in "Ed Roman" and draw your own conclusions from what you are able to read on this Mosrite seller. You never know, you might get a positive deal but you also need to be wary of guitar authenticity... ;) (and take along lots of pecunia with you).

Never dealt with Ed Roman, however compared to his internet prices you can get the exact same thing at Arties Front Porch Music for about half the price. Plus Artie is a member of this forum. Support those that support us.

I bought my guitar from ED and I probably wouldn't buy an other one from him.His guitars are expensive and do not include a gig-bag he will squeeze every penny he can out of you.
You also have to make an appointment to go there and if he doesn't think your serious about buying he wont deal with you.
I would go to Artie you'll spend less money, deal with less bull@#!% and probably not feel the need to take a shower after wards.

Wait... Wha...?

Also, Watch out for this. It may or may not be desirable. I don't know as I've never played a neck modified like this.

If you are a collector / player, by all means visit Ed and take a look. But call before you go. I believe Ed Roman's has moved the 3rd time to Wounded Horse Trail and is by appointment only. It is kind of far from the Strip and you definitely need a car to get there.

Ed Roman will test your guitar knowledge on the phone and decide whether to meet with you in person. He also has a custom shop there and is interesting to see if they are in operation. They can build your custom order guitar for you.

His showroom has a lot nice guitars, some older McNaught, PRS etc, and usually has 4-5 vintage Mosrites on display. Prices are usually very high so do some homework before you buy.

Ed is a very talkative guy and is quite interesting to listen to, just don't believe all he says. He doesn't like Gibson, Fender nor newer PRS guitars, he only likes what he carries in stock or what he collects. Watch your wallet as he is a good salesman.

If you are looking for a less expensive Mosrite clone, you better off dealing with his salesperson or buy from fellow forum members here like; Front Porch or Hallmark. Drive to Bakersfield to see Artie if you have time. (3 hours one way but definitely worthwhile)

If you are a collector of vintage guitars, visit AJ's Music in Henderson and Cowtown guitars in Vegas. You can find their websites on line. They rarely have any vintage Mosrites but a lot vintage Gibson, Fender, Gretsch and Epiphone etc.

Have a nice trip and a lot fun in Vegas!

Just my 2 cents opinion. Hope it helps.

Vincent

Thanks for all the info, I didn't know Ed Roman moved off the strip, that info is a big help.
Also I didn't know Front Porch was only 3 hours away, I might make that trip.
I just want to look at all my options before I jump, and its hard when you look
at the H60C reviews and its price.

My wife can't understand why I taking so much time researching before I buy, she
says I buy clothes by just walking the store a picking the closest thing I see.
I told her that's how all men buy there clothes -- walk in-- buy--walk out.
