Here is the Celebrity I'm looking at:

I saw this guitar at this shop a couple weeks ago & I am about 98% sure it had a different neck. The neck said "The New Mosrite of California". Also, the "M" at the top of the neck was different. The guitar went to another shop of his & they brought it back because I asked to see it again. In the emails back & forth w/ the owner I asked him about a Celebrity being made in the era of Mosrite & he never answered my question. As you can tell by the last photo, he is familiar with Mosrite. Is it possible that, since he know someone who had, albeit small, a little sense of these guitars he changed the neck? Check out the plate thingy on the back that bolts on the guitar. Don't Celebrity's just have 3 screws & no plate? You guys will be able to tell me much more about this guitar. Anything great about it? Anything of which I should be made aware? His asking price is $1,500.00. It was just $1,250.00 a couple weeks ago. It sounded dreamy, but I don't wanna get ripped off. I am respecfully asking the forum for help on this.
In order of purchase:
1) Mosrite Ranger
2) V88
3) Stereo 350
4) Hallmark II in Johnny Blue
5) Danelectro '66
6) Celebrity III
7) Hallmark Gospel
8) Serenade
9) Eastwood 300

There should be a label inside the lefthand f-hole with a serial number that corresponds to the number on the neck.

Isn't that the guitar I sent you a link to a couple weeks back and you said that that wasn't the guitar in question? If it helps, I do know that that guitar has been in that condition, with that neck, in that shop for the past couple years - so I doubt there are any neck shenanigans going on. I know this because I remember they used to have a matching Ventures style bass as well.

But I still want to know if the New Mosrite Celebrity was real or a figment of your imagination...

My Celeb has two bolts, and there are some with three and four, as well as Celebs with a kidney plate. Like most of these confounding instruments, there were production changes interspersed with periods when they used whatever was on hand (or so I've learned over that last six months!).

Just to be clear. Are you looking for a 6 or 12 string Celebrity? You might want to clarify that in the 'wanted 'section.

That is the same guitar I saw today as the one in that pick. Maybe I saw a different guitar a few weeks ago. Or maybe I'm just losing my mind. Come to think of it, I think I'm losing my mind.

Sorry, ...can offer you no Mosrite knowledge here but there seems to be evidence of a lot of strain going on at the bolt-on area (telling from this photo)...A possible purchase may not end at $1,500 and there's also a scratch plate missing...

Hang in there GTSP, the brain should override emotion at this stage of uncertainty about the guitar.
Just my thoughts... ;)

[ edit: that neck pup sorround seems to take on an awfully cramped pose too  ]

Perhaps tention is a better word. It appears to me that the heel of the neck looks to be bolted down so tight that the wooden base of the body looks deformed. I was thinking about this possibly causing fretboard alignment/action issues... and together with the cramped up neck pickup it could also possibly point to the neck not being the original one. Unscrewing the neck could tell us more about screw holes (original and added ones) dates and other markings perhaps.
