Despite the poor refinish on the body, I think that this is quite a good looking pup. Actually you can see the sunburst underneath peeking through, fighting for life.

I'm tempted to put in a bid - although I'd need to get a string guide and some tuners, though that shouldn't be too difficult... right?! Oh, and some knobs. And possibly a new switch top (or whatever the real name is).

Do any of you know about the quality of this era of Japanese Mosrite clones?

Thanks,
Max

Max,
I want to say it might be a later Model Avenger from the 70s....but I'm not sure.....

I think jramonitos has one of these. I seemed to recalled he or someone got one and we discussed it over on the Mazzrite forum. In particular I remember the square neck plate on the back with the little tear drop at the bottom. I think it was determined to be an early Fillmore which was one of the better copies. I've been watching that auction just to see what is going to sell for, although I'm not going to bid. Go for it Maxtib, if don't like it you can easily resale it with no problems.

I'm very tempted indeed.

The tailpiece says Moseley - does that mean that US(imperial) size springs would fit in it do you think? If not - would an 'Excellent' spring fit in there (sorry I keep swapping between models and units of measurement)

Also, any ideas about the string guide? What would I do about that?

Thanks, I'm a bit of a dunce at these things,
Max

I don't think the spring would be a problem as the metric diameter is very close to standard Imperial measurements. You could alsways order a spring size of your choice from the other web site I posted.

The string guide is simple to fabricate out of aluminum. That's the way the late 50s and early 60s Mosrite's were made. If you get it the guitar, I'll help you with the string guide.

That's very generous of you indeed! Just to let you know, I'm in England.

Will just keep watching the auction and hope it doesn't get too dear.
