I think that this may be the coolest guitar ever:

Anybody wise to these?
Thanks,
Max

I just realised this is probably in the wrong forum.. belongs in the 'Other'.
My apologies!

Actually it was originally a Mosrite influenced guitar, if for no other reason than Mosrite's were a big name at the time and Bakersfield was being recognized for it's B-top county musicians, guitars and sound . So I think it's history would fit here. It is another 'Bakersfield built' such as the Hallmark's and Gruggett guitars that arose during the heyday of Mosrite Ventures fame. Here's a pretty good story to gives a little of it's history.

Just last week I played the Standel from the Swedish link in the top of this thread. It currently sits in a Copenhagen guitarshop.
It's a very cool guitar and the neck and fretboard is probably the most Mosrite'ish feature it has.
The trem is a little stiff but ok.
I really liked it. It seems like a great player. I think I'll have to go back and take it for another spin.

Neat-o for sure, but I think there's room for two more pickups in there somewhere!

Looking at that guitar really illustrates what little character modern cookie-cutter guitars have.

I only got to play it for a short time through an Orange amp. I'm not very familiar with Orange amps at all. I've read that the pups on the Standel are rated pretty weak and measure around 4 ohms. They did sound quite gutsy through that amp though.

I love these Standel guitars and always thought they were undervalued. They are well made and play really well. The pickups are an issue, they are low output, but I really like the way they sound through a standel amp....
