Mysterious Mosrite on line seller

Postby Desert Surfer » Sun Dec 21, 2008 9:20 pm

I have seen this guy selling Mosrite clones on line in the last few years. He sells parts too. (he added a new photo there) I don't think anyone would waste money on website unless there are certain purposes, I presume?

http://www.geocities.com/mosrites/

I wonder whether he assembles these guitars in the US? (I will be very interested if he really does that, but I doubt it) or import them? His guitars look like Excellent models to me. (but Kurokumo has stopped production for quite a while until recently..who else made them for him?) His price ranges seems to indicate these are Japanese clones. (Korean or Chinese would be too high) How could he continues do so without being harrassed by Ed Roman in the past few years?

Anyone have any expereince or clue?

Dennis, I thought about that too. But I think the "new parts" photo is new (I think) Who would waste money on website for a few years ...? It looks like he pays some Google Eds money too. Every time I search "Mosrite" on Google, his name would pop up

He buys used Mosrite parts too. He may have the parts I am looking for my Joe Maphis model.

That websight has been there a long time. I sent him an e-mail about 2 years ago and even though it didn't come back I never got an answer.

Vincent,
If it's just parts for your Mosrite you are looking for, I would probably check with Eddy or Bob Shade. ;)

Thanks, I am looking for a vintage bridge screw for my 1967 Joe Maphis model as I posted before. Once in awhille, someone would sell it on eBay. A few months ago, there was a perfect on but I was outbid ($215 for 1 screw is a little too much). A few weeks ago, there was another one (Jason told me about it, thanks Jason) but my guitar tech guy said it was the wrong part.
Anyway, thanks Dennis for the tip. I probably contact Andy or wait for someone sell it on eBay. I don't want to put a new part on it. The bridge is functionalbe and no harm for playing. So I will wait for the absolute right part..

Well, besides a lot of jokes to this line, was this the same seller that has
a "Special Sale" on a Trusrod Cover for only $79 currently on E-Bay???

No. This was a different seller who stripped a vintage Mosrite and sold the complete parts. He probably made more money that way. If someone was looking for a complete vintage Mosrite bridge (vibrator was not included, just the bridge), it's a OK deal. For me, I just need one of screws on that bridge. I was going to buy it if under $100 and gave the rest of the parts to my guitar tech guy. But $215 is way too high.
