I finally got my very first Mosrite (by Fillmore)

Postby Picure » Thu Nov 10, 2016 10:26 am

This week I came to Japan to play a show in Tokyo and Osaka and luck has it that there was a 2nd hand Fillmore Mosrite Bass for sale at 246 Guitars Shibuya for $1200. The price was too good for me so I went ahead and bought the thing. This bass is a V65 Reissue. The only question I have is whats the difference between a Fillmore V64, which costs around $7000, and a V65? I dont understand why the big price difference. Mine seems to be in perfect conditon except for a small paint chip on the side of the body but I dont think that constitutes for such a price drop, or V65s are just not worth that much?

Anyways, here are some pics.

I will record some cover videos with this bass as soon as I have the time. There are just not enough Mosrite bass videos out there!

Beautiful! Congratulations on your new guitar! Did you decide to pass on the "possible" Bob Bogle bass?

Thanks Danny! About the possible Bob Bogel bass, that ended up going to another bidder as the ending price was a bit high for me. That auction went from $150 to $2700 in the final hours.

That is a magnificent bass, 'sure you will thoroughly enjoy!

How does she play and sound, what amp and strings are you using?

Sorry for the late reply. I am currently using Rotosound flat wound strings on this bass and it has a really dry vintage sound. However, I find it hard to get the Bob Bogle Live in Japan 1965 bass sound without any EQ. It lacks the mid range like on the recording.

Currently I run this bass through whatever amp avaliable at the venues I play at, which is mostly Ampeg SVTs with 8x10 cabs, modern amplifires.
