Those are the spun knobs which are correct for a 64-65 Mosrite. Sixty six was the year everything changed. Up until 66 the guitars were basically still being handmade a few at a time, in 66 Mosrite went into in full scale production mode to keep up with demand.

So, on the whole, ok features for a 65R.

In the photos posted by Dub, the details in the tremolo are still substantially crisper. Just an observation. The edge detail are very uneven. The pattern around the Mosrite logo is shaped differently also, and not a very distinct recess. Just make sure to really check out anything that may give you a clue.

That guitar would be my preference over a "cookie cutter" type later model. My first choice would be a '63 sidejack but they get pricey. Upwards of $3000 for one MIJ, $30,000 for an original.

Keep in mind it is a reissue, so "close" to original is about all you're going to get.

That's a good observation and I've thought about it, but if the guitar feels and sounds ok that's fine with me.

Hmm...this has become a bit more exciting than I hoped. it seems that one of the pickups has been replaced.

Neck pu
Mosrite logo
Plastic cover looks nice and even with sharp corners.
Bridge pu
No logo
Plastic cover does not appear to be smooth, small holes in the plastic surface and the corners seem quite round.
Same kind of screw poles on both pickups, Philip head with a small dot.
Why use different plastic covers, surface wise, logo wise and corner wise?

The smooth type cover would be correct for pre-66. Those are fillister head screws not phillips head. Also the original pickup rings were cast resin with a rough texture.
