Some of you know I've been looking quite a while for a Mosrite guitar. I just bought one of the UK ebay and it's a Mosrite Excellent from 2002, white / black pickguard. Seen a few original Mosrites but haven't had the cash to get one so maybe this can be considered a first step

. Then again, all of you talk very positive about the Excellent line. Can't wait to get it!!
Speaking of the Mosrite Excellent. I found this on Harmony central:
'As in the previuos review, my new Mosrite is a 2002 "Licensed Japanese remake" of the Mosrite Ventures model from a Japanese firm licensed by Loretta Moseley to make them. During conversations with my contact during the purchase of this guitar, I was informed that this firm has been licensed and producing these for over 20 years and their models are superior to any others produced in Japan.'Loretta Moseley? Is this true??

Is your guitar pearl white or snow white? I'm not big on pearl and as far as I can tell that's all there is.I have two Excellent 65's, Blue and red, and I love them.I also have an original '71 Mosrite and while I prefer the thinner neck of the 71 I like the smoother body curves of the Excellents.
Welcome to the world of Mosrite!

Congratulations El Twang! I used to have an Excellent Mosrite and to my ears and hands it was only a speed-fret-job away from being a player on par with a vintage Mosrite.

Congratulations, Lars. I am glad that you are getting a Kurokumo Mosrite soon. I hope you enjoy it as much as do with mine.
As far as Licensing by Loretta Moseley, it could be true. I think she could or can grant licensing with her name; Loretta Mosely to anyone. But that does not mean the licensing of the old trade name of Mosrite. If she owns the trade name "Mosrite" legally, she can stop anyone including Ed Roman's selling Mosrtie guitars now.
This is only my personal opinion.

Thanks everybody! I think it's in pearl. I'll of course post pics. Don't worry, haha.
What kind of frets is on the Excellent compared to the real thing? Standard Fender'ish frets?
What's maybe most important to me is the pups. They just have to sound like the real deal.
I was in London, UK last weekend and had a look on a red Mosrite from 1965. A bit worn but cool looking guitar! The vibro, however, felt VERY fragile and I use that a lot. I wonder if the hardware on these reissues are more sturdy?

Here are two side by side. '63 kurokumo Excellent copy & '66 Mosrite

Fret wise, they are almost identical. (Nokie Kurokumo on the far right has a little wider fret)
Sound wise, they are very close. The '66 is a little warmer.
Danny remade the vibro bar on the '66, but rest of the hardward seem to be sturdy on the vintage one.
Hope this helps.

That's very nice, Vincent. 40 years just adds up and makes the '66 look stunning!! I really dig how the pickguard and whole guitar has aged.
Now, where's that UK Parcel Force truck!!!!?
