Nicanor (Brazilian Mosrite Copy)

Postby zubrycky » Fri Dec 06, 2013 5:33 pm

Hello!

My name is Diego Zubrycky and I live in São Paulo, Brazil.

Here's my main guitar.

Image

This guitar (Inspired by Johnny Ramone's white Mosrite) was made by Nicanor, a brazilian luthier.

Here's the specs.

Turners: Grover
Number of frets: 24
Bridge: Gotoh
pickups: Bill Lawrence humbuckers.

I don't know anything about Nicanor, unfortunately. I'm not the first owner of this guitar (I bought it used).

I believe this is the only Mosrite copy made by Nicanor.

It's a very special guitar for me. I hope you like it.

Cheers from Brazil,
D.

P.S.: I'll post more pictures and videos with this guitar soon.

Looks cool man. Heard there is strong love of surf music down in Brazil. True?

Hi and I notice that the body shape is not quite the same as a Ventures II Slab Body, Not that it's "Wrong", Just an observation. It looks good to me, But if you'd like it to sound more like a Mosrite the first thing I'd suggest to change is the bridge. I don't think a stock Mosrite bridge would fit a Tune-O-Matic type stud hole though, That (A Mosrite-Type bridge that would replace a Tune-O-Matic) might be a good thing for someone to start manufacturing come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen one yet outside of thinking of it!

What's the fret height? Speed frets are about .022 thousandths of an inch tall on the Low E side and .015 on the High E side, At least on the 1966 Ventures II I've played. FYI.
