Postby Desert Surfer » Wed Nov 05, 2008 7:29 am

Here is an interesting webpage. Althought it is in Japanese, there are a lot interesting photos including some familiar faces...(I will let you spot them yourself)

I hope that someone here will translate this information!
It will be interesting to hear what Mosrite guitars will be made here in the US.

Really great photos too, including better photos of the amp that Jeff has been trying to identify.

Vincent, you're right, VERY INTERESTING Page! I only got 2 or3 or
100 questions if you by chance know the answers to  .....
A) Were those Mosrite "Pins" that I saw on the 'site that you wear on a shirt?
B) Was there a "Ventures Book" before the "WDR-50 Years of Rock and Roll?"
C) Were some of the PIX from Artie's "Front Porch Music" in Bakersfield?
D) I thought I saw a "Family Tree" of Semie. How many times was Semie married?
E) the 3rd to the last PIC, was that the "Tin Shed?"
F) And the last 2 PIX, was that Mosrite's First Building location??
Vincent, sorry for all the questions, but the 'site doesn't seem to translate  ....
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

A) The Mosrite pins are what are known as "pin badges" in Japan and appear to be a Fillmore promotional item. There are collectors for everything in Japan, pins included, and I'd say they are very similar to the pins the Hard Rock Cafe has been selling for years.
B) Looks like there was a Japanese Ventures book published in 1995
C) Yep, Artie and Mr. Yusa (Fillmore) and Front Porch Music.
D) 4 wives. Loretta was #4.
E) I'm assuming that's the tin shed. The pic is captioned as Semie Moseley's original garage.
F) Mr. Yusa in front of the Bakersfield factory circa 1980.

When I lived in Tokyo I used to stop by the Fillmore office periodically to chat with Mr. Yusa and his wife. He is not the most loquacious guy, but he knows his Mosrites and has quite an extensive collection. And he makes a quality product. In fact, I would have to endorse Fillmore over Kurokumo from my experiences, but both take a backseat in feel to the genuine article.

WoW!!! Thanks Adam. That's some very interesting info.
I only knew of 3 times that he had been married. And the
Bakersfield Factory....what can one say, at least we now
have One PIC that has survived since the Building itself is
no longer there, that we can keep in the FORUM ;) .
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

How in the h*ll are you guy's getting that website to open? Arpsum sent me that link and I couldn't open it, and still can't open it through Vincent's link. I'd like to see that photo of the 'original garage' as I can probably tell which one it was.

Unfortunately I can't gain access. Apparently some settings on my new hard drive (after a recent crash) are not allowing me to access certain sites. I cannot figure out how to bypass, change or reset them. So, if some one can, please copy the photo's from properties with the URL and post them using [Img].

BTW, Arpsum did convert part of the site to PDF and sent it to me via email but it was only a portion of a page with photo's of the guitars on display. The photo of Semi and his wife and daughter was taken about the time I met him as that is the way I remember he and his family.
