hello, some questions for you: 1) does fillmore of japan continue to make the gospel model?. I see ed roman has one for a little over $2400. I read in the forum that you could purchase a gospel from a japan dealer for $1000. Anyone know if they are available for for $1000? Any opinions on the quality? 2) I understand that the smooth top pickups fall in the range of 6-7K. Would you agree or disagree? 3) Are m-3 california pickups good? thanks for your time

yes, smooth tops are between 6 and 8 ohms, I also have a couple that have 2 magnets and huge winding, and epoxy potting.Ed Elliot thinks he hade those however. Lots of hard rock music was recorded with the smooth top pickups so dont dismiss them out of hand, you may like them better for that type of sound

No info to contribute on points 1 and 2, but I can vouch for the M3 pickups - they're great. I've got three of the RH-100 dual output single coils in my guitar - they can be switched from 7-8K (think P-90) to full Mosrite 11-12K output. Really nice and versatile.
