Copies of non-Ventures models?

Postby CivoLee » Thu Jan 07, 2010 9:27 pm

It seems like every Mosrite copy out there is based around the Avenger/Ventures style. This is understandabe, considering that most famous players play/played that style, and for a time it was ONLY style available.

But has anyone seen copies of the later models, such as the Bluesbender or the Stereo/Mono 350? The closest thing to a Bluesbender copy out there is Washburn's Idol, but I understand that's gonna be revamped into yet another Les Paul clone.

I would be VERY surprised to learn if anyone was making copies of the Brass Rail...

Schecter has made a couple inexpensive approximations - the Mosrite-inspired Ultra, as well as a copy of the Rickenbacker Combo 800 (which served as the basis for the Bluesbender shape).

I've never seen that guitar before. Where did you find it?

I can't remember what that model was called but it was put out by Schecter Japan (ESP) a few years ago. Fano also makes a Combo copy.

Hey Civo,

If I were you I would just keep looking around. I picked up a stereo 350 about 6 months ago for 900 bucks, Adam (dorkrockrecords) is a better expert then I, but I'm sure you could find a blues bender roughly in that price range, as long as you keep looking.
if not I would love to give it a shot, that is make a copy.
Cheers,
Aaron
