Anyone have any info on this...?

Postby Brian » Thu Jun 18, 2009 11:12 pm

I've heard some stories about this guitar and it's even mentioned on page below.

It looks pretty good, I'm just curious as to how they find out it was a fake, and what was fake about it.

I have seen this too but would love to know more.
As a ramones fan... this would be my dream guitar and would hate to get a "fake"

I don't know who built it but they did a darn fine job of making it.

I have more info than I care to share on this guitar. The guy who bought it is from Denmark(as I recall), it was put together with Mosrite parts, was sold as a prototype on ebay and went for the pricey sum of $4K on a "buy it now". But it is not an original Ventures II. I have xray shots of this guitar too. Neck date is LATER than production models,no serial number on neck, body routing is wrong, along with many other "problems". I was contacted, along with several other V II owners on the authenticity of this guitar. The buyer tried to get his money back and the seller refused to allow him to return it. I saved all correspondence with the buyer and others involved. This is as involved as I would like to get on a public forum concerning this, or any other guitar passed off as a "prototype", one of a kind, etc. The buyer got screwed.

There are fakes out there and BUYER BEWARE! If you buy anything online, much less a rare guitar, keep close records of the entire transaction and all correspondence with seller and report to ebay and all authorities immediately if there are ANY problems.

This forum can be a great help to anyone buying a Mosrite, suggest it to potential buyers and use it.

It's a shame the seller got ripped off. But I would still buy it now, knowing what it is. Not for $4000 though. Maybe $1000.
Did he get rid of it? Or does he still have it? Sold the parts perhaps...

Not trying to be mysterious, just don't want to get too involved in this on a public forum. There is a lot of info on this forum already, enough that anyone should "buyer beware" before buying a "Mosrite", especially a particularly rare model being sold as a "prototype".

OTOH, this has been a surprisingly quiet thread.
