So, if I'm reading this right. Ed Roman still has Dana Mosley's "of Original" rights and Artie has "of USA" (but only to be sold in Japan) rights....right? :?

I was informed by a reliable source that Ed Roman had gone or is going out of the Mosrite business but I have not confirmed this.

Dana is assembling these guitars in the shop set up at Front Porch Music as she has a business arrangement with Fillmore. Currently Front Porch is just her area of operation. Front Porch can sell 'Mosrite of Original' for the US market, all 'Mosrite of USA' are being assembled and sent back to Japan. They are not being sold here currently.

I'm going to meet with Artie today or tomorrow and will try to get you guy's some answers.

............and those T shirts are really cool.

I went to Front Porch today and got a chance to meet Dana (a super nice person just like her dad) and checkout the new Fillmore Mosrites. These are the same guitars Ed Roman sells. Dana said Ed Roman is still selling Mosrites but is only a selling merchant and not a distributor. Artie will be selling the Fillmore Mosrites as well.

The ones Dana was assembling today are called the Mosrite USA, and are being sent back to Japan. They are completed parts sent to her for assembly and setup, after which she signs under the pickguard and ships back. Each batch consists of 12 guitars. She is expecting another batch to assemble next week of 'Mosrite Original'. All components for the 'Original' are also manufactured in Japan and sent to her for assembly, however it will have her pickups that she hand winds. Plus it is made of better quality wood and electronics.

I played one of the USA models and it is a very beautiful guitar. I did notice that the bridge pickup was pretty week and would suspect it was due to the ohm rating being less than the neck pickup. Probably reversing the pickups would help, but I did not offering that suggestion.

As for parts availability, they send Dana only enough parts for each guitar. There are no parts available for purchase. Artie does have a few odd and end parts some original and some that he has had made up by casting from original Mosrites. Contact Artie direct if you need something.

Regarding the assembling of Mosrite guitars at Front Porch Music, that is only a temporary situation. Dana is moving into a house where she will be converting a room as a shop for the assembling guitars. She has a contract with Fillmore but Artie does not. Front Porch will be selling the guitars but not a direct distributor. So, the prices are not too flexible. You'll have to contact Front Porch for a quote, but for now they are none in stock.

The super cool T shirts are available to purchase, which was an after thought when I brought it up. They are $10 plus shipping probably $6 or $7 bucks. The bad thing is all he has left is black. What's with everyone and black T shirts. Barf! Now that green one Dana is wearing looks sharp. Blue would be even better.

If anyone is looking for a Mosrite and don't want to pay the price of an original, you might look into one of these Fillmore's. They are top quality and virtually identical to an original Mosrite. The frets are small but have not been dressed down to speed frets. That is a simple fix if that is your choice. Before I forget, the action is extremely low but yet I did not detect any fret buzz. Although these guitars are not cheap in price, they are every bit the quality of an American made original.

Regarding Loretta Moseley and her Mosrite venture, well, that has been reported by another poster and his experience a couple of weeks ago in the introduction forum. That pretty much sums up reality.

12 guitars at a time? Is Dana the only assembler, at this time? That's not many guitars made available, is it? Another question, if you know...are the specs in metric or standard?

Thanks for the update and insight, Danny.

Actually it's Dana and her husband assembling the guitars. I would guess that it will be a few weeks or months before very many are available here in the US. Unknown if they are metric or American standard, I forgot to ask. I assumed they would be metric since all parts are made in Japan. Dana is registered here but until she moves into her home she does not have a computer. I did get the computer at Front Porch logged in and on line with the forum while I was there, so maybe she'll check in on it.

I just wondered, since they were putting "Mosrite of USA" on the headstock, if they would make them in standard. I'd like to find a Fillmore (or any other Mosrite) around here, to give a play. I've never seen one in any of the shops, around here.
I'd really like to compare My 60 Custom, to see how close Bob Shade got it. :)

I personally like the feel of the neck on the Hallmark 60 better than the Mosrite. The Mosrites Dana is putting together have very narrow necks. Too narrow for my liking. I also think the Hallmark pickups sound better than the MIJ pickups on the Mosrite USA, however I'd bet the one Dana winds sound every bit as good as the real deal. Better shut up now before I get into trouble with Dana. ;)
