Reads (upside down): "Mosrite Forever Semie Moseley 19XX" (date obscured by tuner)

Look familiar?

No wonder I didn't see it, I thought that was paint checking on the headstock. It seems more likely to be an eighties model now.

After all that stuff, Ed admitted to me in a phone conversation that he knew less about Mosrite than almost any guitar that he sold.

On that subject, I worked at Mosrite, own more than 70 Mosrites and have been collecting Mosrites for over 30 years.
I am proud to be a Mosrite/Fillmore dealer and although I dont have every model in stock, we can get any model and any color in a short amount of time.

I feel that the guitars that Dana Moseley is building here in Bakersfield are as good or better than the ones made in the past.
If any one is interested in a new Mosrite, feel free to contact me personally for a great guitar at a fair price.
Thanks, Artie

I have never met Artie but called him about a guitar on Ebay for sale that had the same serial number as one of his vintage ones in the Japanese texted Mosrite book. He was very friendly and I enjoyed some stories he told me about mosrite. If I decide to buy one from fillmore I will buy from him-he seems to be very knowledgable and I appreciated some of the knowledge I acquired after speaking with him. Met Dana many years ago in Jonas Ridge when I picked up my Johnny Ramone model-she was winding pickups. Best of luck to her-I think Loretta should have included her and Andy in the new chapter of mosrite as they could really help her-plus they are Semie's blood and last link to a real Mosrite. As far as ER goes-a friend of mine-juts a kid-had a very bad experience with him a few years ago and that was all I needed to know about him. Caveat Emptor!!

Here’s a view of ‘Ed Roman’s headstock’ from a different angle and contrast. Notice the shoddy placement of the tuners…the person who drilled the holes and/or mounted the tuners must’ve had a hangover at the factory on that day.

these look to be mounted the exact same way as all my Mosrites.
Cheers,

I think what Veenture was trying to point out is that if you compare the Ed Roman guitar to my former '84 American model, whereas the American's tuners are placed equidistant from the edges of the headstock, the Roman guitar's tuners are far from it. Rather lopsided, indeed.

Thanks for expounding Adam; always appreciate your expertise, guitar- as well as language wise ;)

Aaron, I’m sure you’ve made us curious now as to whether or not any of the tuners on your Mo’s are indeed lopsided –not that it will make any difference to playing... :geek:

AND it's got M knobs on it! I can't believe it took me this long to notice that. Forgive me if someone has already made note of that but this thread is getting too long for my short attention span.

You have excellent vision...it's not that simple to make out the numbers on the perimiters of the knobs!

AND the Vibramute has rounded off points on the tail end (just like the photo of the repro trem featured on Ed's site) rather than the correct sharper points.

AND that neck heel is HUGE and not at all contoured into the body!

Image

To be honest, I think we're dealing with a faked '63 assembled from the Canadian parts cache. As recently as four or five years ago there were still many Semie Moseley signed and dated (and unfinished/seconded) necks in the remnants, and they also displayed the same yet-to-be contoured heels and misaligned tuning peg holes...
