That is so cool you saw the Stooges in 1970!!! I love that band....a lot. Anyway nice bass.
I have been tempted lately with getting a Hi-flyer. All the groundbreaking acts use a Mosrite in the band. Check out the thread "Mosrite was there". Nice to meet you in this world of ones and zeros.

Re: My New UNIVOX HI-FLYER Bass
I've forgotten a lot of things and some of my memories are dim but that night at UNGANO's left indelible images in my mind that I love visiting once in a while. I wish I could remember more but you could say my mind that night was on another level, one I cannot reach any more; missing pages from my mental image album.
I looked at some of your photos on myspace and I noticed the one of Erik Brann (Iron Butterfly). Well, I also saw them in the late '60s at the old Fillmore East here in New York City.

Wow.. I bet that was cool... great band totally underrated. I try to get that sound with
my gear Vox Amp Mosrite Fuzz Tape Delay/Reverb. E.B.'s playing is so original.. it is still a joy to put those L.Ps on the turntable. Hey was he wearing that crazy red pirate shirt when you saw them? I know it was the late 60's at a Iron Butterfly concert. so if can't remember i would understand ha ha

Can't say I remember a red pirate shirt, but I do remember Erik wearing almost the same outfit as in your photo but when you see it in color it's psychedelically beautiful. The other guys were wearing "hippie" outfits also.
I also have a memory that I'm not sure was with the Butterfly but I can't think of any other group that did the song I'm going to name. Perhaps you can tell me.
Between songs, audience members would call out titles they wanted the band to play. I waited for a quiet moment and yelled out "Solo!" At that moment Lee Dorman, the bassist, turned around (his back was to the audience at the moment I yelled) and gave me an okay sign (thumb and forefinger in a circle) and they broke right into "Solo." What a joy!

cool bass. I still need to post pics of my univox. I was taking pics tonight, but the battery died in my camera
keep the natural finish dude, it's awesome.
btw, bass humbuckers are nothing new, mosrite made bass humbuckers starting in the early 70's.
