I have a problem with the -e-string: if I bend a note after the 11-12 fret the sound disappear, the neck seems ok,raised the bridge .the same, yours?
it's the first guitar with this problem I have.

Bruno,

Out of curiosity, what happens to the B string if you bend it towards the E string? Does it have the same behavior? What happens if you bend the E string and then hit the note - does it sound at all? On my Mosrites, the sustain of the notes drops off higher up the neck, especially if I'm picking closer to the neck than the bridge. Plucking the strings over the neck pickup is far more percussive and has less sustain than plucking closer to the bridge, and I find the effect more pronounced on my Mosrites than on my Fenders. I think it's a side effect of the incredibly low action and light strings. Anyway, I'm thinking it may be a general sustain issue as opposed to the an issue with the frets.

Good luck,

Hey Bruno, please feel free to ask anything, that's what we are here for.

The problem that you described does not occur with my Ranger. It could be a general sustain problem, so you might wanna first try the things that Mel asked.

Then again, it could be the strings hitting the frets. Espesially as the problem occurs when you are bending the strings. When you are not bending them, this does not happen, right? My first thought is that your guitars' truss rod might need some adjusting - probably loosening it a little bit. This is exactly the kind of thing that might happen if a guitars' neck doesn't have a suitable relief - even if you have increased the string height.

Have you adjusted guitar truss rods before? Please note that you have to be careful when doing that, and you could actually do some real damage if you i.e. adjust it too much at a time. It is always a good idea to have a pro do something like this first, and watch & learn while he's doing it.

That's a very good decision!

P.S. Oh yeah, can I ask you something? I would be interested to know where the Rangers serial numbers are going now. Can you tell me yours, and how is it marked? My guitar is "RG0069", marked in the pickups end of the fretboard.
