Maple Fretboards

Never occurred to me years ago Mosrites would look cool with maple fretboards but after seeing Mosrite Nokie Edwards models on the internet and YouTube, particularly Chicchi out of Japan those Mosrites with maple boards are cool. Do you guys like them? I don't think any 60s or 70s models have them but in the late 80s and early 90s Semie made some and even Fillmore more recently. I have vintage and Japanese Mosrites with rosewood but love to have a maple board Mosrite. If only Bob Shade would make one like the Nokie I would buy one and I am sure others would too and it would be a hot seller.

Interesting notion. Personally I am not a fan of maple fretboards. But, lots of folks love them.

im not really a fan of maple fretboards. maple neck? sure. great. then slap some rosewood or ebony on it please.

I like the sound of it. As long as its done right a maple board neck is great to play.

I'm not very familiar with Maple Fretboards on Mosrites. I've never had the chance to play a Mosrite with a 100% Maple Fretboard. My Brass Rail may have some Maple in the fretboard, but multiple kinds of wood are used for it.

I don't suppose a Maple Fretboard on a Mosrite is a bad idea with common-height frets. If you like Speed Frets, you might want to avoid it. Maple Fretboards are painted with clear coat to prevent dirt build up, and if you try clowning around with bending strings on speed frets with a maple fretboard, you might just tear the clear coat off more easily than with frets of a more common height. Even if you don't bend, you might press the strings too hard and make an imprint in the fretboard. My 66 is like that in multiple spots.

Again, for reference: Speed Frets seem to be 0.022 on the Low E side, and 0.015 on the High E side.
