Just snagged a blue MIJ Ventures II on EBay from Front Porch for about $830 w/shipping but no case. I still have my hardshell case from my Eastwood copy, so I know have a case that will fit nicely (and given the dirt holes I play, having it cloaked as a cheap knockoff isn't exactly an unwelcomed happenstance). This is twice as much as I've ever payed for a guitar before, but it's exactly the Mostrite I was hoping to get, realizing I couldn't afford a California-made Ventures model. Also kind of glad it has some dings in it already, that way I won't feel horrible for damaging a prestine guitar, lol!

Sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Score one MIKE!
Looks like a Kurokumo Blitzkreig/WD no?
You got a really good deal, they are going for over 1400 new, I think and that's without the Ventures II logo!
Nice.

Now you can stop worrying, Mike. Congratulations on a great score and also nice to know it changed hands from one forum member (Artie aka Bakeoboy) to another!

Re: Proud new owner...
Thanks! It certainly does look a lot like the Kurokumo Blitzkreig/WD sans the Ventures II logo. I thought I read somewhere here that the Venture II logo stopped popping up on MIJs circa 2001, but who knows...I'm looking forward to figuring out what factory and year it was produced in, seems like part of the fun when purchasing a used Mosrite!
And I couldn't believe the price held, I'm not entirely sure but I think I benefited from musicians spending their money on black Friday sales and not having money for eBay this weekend. Just got new tubes for my amp, too; can't wait to hear the upgrades in sound!

Re: Proud new owner...
Just arrived yesterday. Artie did a great job with packing it safely. The only thing is that I can't find a serial number! Looked all up and down the neck and didn't see it anywhere. Knowing how idiosyncratic Mosrites are, I'm not alarmed, but this might make ID'ing the factory more of a challenge.
Any clues on finding the serial number or tracking down which factory produced it would be helpful. It's a blue slab body, mini humbucker neck PU, slanted single coil at the bridge, roller bridge, and the stop piece says "Made in Japan". The volume knob is chrome, but the tone know is plastic with numbers and is top hat (as opposed to witch hat) style.
Thanks!

Also, I'm late for work because I can barely put the guitar down!

On my Fillmores, the serial # is stamped into the fingerboard at the last fret.
A little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing.
