I contacted Sam Ash and received a few additional photos of this guitar. It does say Mosrite Avenger on the headstock with a serial number of SMCE0132. They estimate the vintage to be 1968. I'll try to get more information as well as more images.

and the rear:

I think I'll ask for dimensions as well as the shape of the bout seems a little off to me.

Sarah,
Great info! That guitar is in really good shape for a '68. What a peculiar guitar. Compared to the accuracy of the Ventures and Combo model Firstmans, this one is way out in left field. And what a bizarre neck plate!

I know, it's suprising how different this one is. I'm trying to get close up pics. The neck joint needs serious repair, however. I guess I'll need a Clone Page as this would not be a partsrite type.

You should ask and see if they want to donate the guitar to the Mosrite Celebrity museum. :)

Hey good one! I'd really like to document this one as well as I can. It's the only one I've ever seen. A bit pricey if you ask me, but nonetheless, I'd like to document it.

Hey--

In addition to what Mel mentioned, it seems that the waist of the body is too high up and too tight. It seems to give the body rather a Mickey Mouse quality.

Weird!

Yeah, that was the first thing that struck me odd. I thought it may have been an optical illusion from the photo. I've asked for dimensions for comparison purposes. From talking to the salesman I'm getting the impression they think it is a true Mosrite. I think I may have to pop their bubble on that. I'm very curious what pickups, knobs, etc are on this guitar.
