I have to say, just by pics alone, it would have to be one of Ed's builds. Just following the pictorial made me drool for one. It has to be the closest to the real deal, out there...maybe better, huh? But, I'm very happy with my little Hallmark 60C.

Here! Here! On the Bulldog! What a great guitar! It takes a heck of a guitar to get a Beatles song dedicated to it.

Re: What is your favorite clone?????
This is a little off-topic here, but since we're talking about Hi-Flyer basses--I worked with a guy in the early-to-mid-'70's who played an original single-pickup Mosrite Ventures bass. One night after the gig and a couple too many drinks, he packed it up and mailed it to his ex-wife with a note to the effect of, "I hope this brings you as much trouble as it has me." Of course, the next day after he sobered up, he realized he needed a bass for that night's gig, so he went out and bought a white Univox Hi-Flyer bass and played it for several months, even after his ex mailed the Mosrite back! He eventually wound up trading the Univox in on a new Mosrite 350 bass in '74, about the time I got a 350 Stereo guitar. That Hi-Flyer wasn't too bad as I recall, and it got my friend realizing that he needed a treble pickup to get a more contemporary sound, which the single-pickup Mosrite wouldn't do--so he got the 350 bass after trying my 350 guitar. The last time I spoke with him, about 12 years ago, he still had the Ventures bass, but he hadn't played it in years.

Hay guys, I'm going to be one sided on this one. I took my half breed to the bar about a week ago and asked the lead player if he would play my guitar, he said ok, and I darned near pi.... my pants, figured he'ed tell me to go jump in the lake. He played it for one set, I was totally impressed with the sound, and sustain. I asked how he liked it and if there was anything that I could do to improve it. He said," no don't do a darn thing to it, I beat the he.. out of it, it stays in tune, didn't see any problems". Asked him what he thought it was worth, he said," thats a $1500.00 guitar easy". I darn near had a heart attack, didn't quite expect that. TRUE STORRY NO B.S. So I guess I would say my home made half breed guitar.

Of course you are!

How dare you presume to inject, using reproducible facts and rational thought, an on-topic discussion into a thread that had degenerated from sarcasm, personal invective, and hand-waving arguments?
