Aria Diamond 380, my impressions

Postby Bill Mc » Sun Oct 25, 2009 8:01 pm

Hello All,

Recently I took the Aria Diamond 380 for a test drive.
Not very expensive, kinda in the fender squier ballpark.
Priced at $280 w/gigbag, you may find it for a few bucks less.
Playability was right there for me, neck seemed solid and it
stayed tuned when I used the temolo bar. It's a imitation
strat tremolo and worked alright for a instrument in this price range.
Pickups sounded good enough probable replacement in order
for future hotrodding. Fit and Finish was very nice all the frets
were nicely installed with no nasty edges. Paint was error free
I saw red and sunburst and both looked pretty good. Body shape I
can't really comment on as I've limited exposure to real mosrites.

Did I buy it? No,not yet anyways. While well within my price range,
over here in the Philidelphia area were gonna have a guitar show in
about 2 weeks so I'm gonna check that out.

Bottom line for me, a neat affordable guitar.
Anyone else have thoughts on this, good/bad.

Cheers.

It'd be my guess that these are Mosrite influenced in shape only and everything stops there. Judging the neck width next to those P90's it looks like it would be comparable to a Fender especially with a Strat vibrato. Woops! that's tremolo in Fender talk. ;) Not a bad price for a playable guitar though.

Is it a bolt on or a set neck?

Hello Dubtrub,

The neck was a bolt on.

It leaves a bit to be desired, sure enough,
but it's a nice option from entry level stratocasters.

Cheers.

PS - I must be clear I'm a big fan of stratocasters and meant
in no way to imply anything negatory against them.

A Wilson Brothers with a more correct Mosrite body shape.

:? ok, had computer problems a few months back and lost ya'll for awhile. but, i gotcha back. so, i bought an aria diamond 380 sunburst back in october i think. nice little guitar for the money. liked the neck and the fret job. the pickups were fine for an at home player like me, if the guitar went to the stage i'd put new pups in it. the finish was virtually perfect and it stayed tuned as long as i was easy on the wobble bar. it's fine for an at home guitar and worth the low price. looked good, sounded good, stayed tuned and was very easy to play.
thinking of getting one in surf green.
