Mosrite Reverb?
I grabbed this photo off the eBay auction to save for discussion and future reference. Never seen or heard of one of these before, so I thought I'd better save the photo before it disappears. Maybe someone will be able to give us a report on it.

I've never heard of it before either. Maybe it was a custom job for someone?

Is that Grill Cloth on the front??? Does it have Tubes and a Tank??? Would like to know more about it other than "used and has Paint Chips".

Re: Mosrite Reverb?
Hi guys--I'm planning on bidding on this sucker....let me know if any of you all are planning on bidding. I'm happy to let it go to someone else if they want it worse than me, but let me know so we're not bidding against each other!
My guess, based on the look of the thing, that it's a solid state device from the '66-'68 era of the company. I could be wrong but that's my guess.

Re: Mosrite Reverb?
Hey there gang, I just got the Mosrite Reverb I won on ebay, and thought I'd post a few (better) pics on the Forum.
This is an odd duck! Judging by the build of the thing I'd have to say it's a one-off, or part of a very small run. There are features like the blonde grillcloth spray-painted black (which appears to be stock) and the black-enamel painted and silk-screened faceplate that don't seem like any real attempt at mass production. Of course, those of us on the forum who have been searching all things Mosrite for years know that they didn't make very many of these, because this is the only one that's ever turned up!
First of all, the shape of the cabinet puts it squarely in the time-frame of the Dumble-built amplifiers. However, this thing is solid state and just as crude as can be, so I wouldn't "credit" Dumble with building this thing. There are no markings inside the chassis. I forgot to get a date code off the one pot when I had it open, but I'd have to say it's from '64 to '66, a pre-Award and pre-Mosrite amp device that fits in with the tube Dumble amp era.
I variac'd it up and fired it up through an amp, and sorry to say, it doesn't work. I did get signal to pass through it, and tried using a footswitch, but couldn't get any reverb on the guitar signal. When I shook the spring tank it went "boing" through the amp, so it's definitely not the springs that are the problem....anyway for now it's the world's coolest door stop, until I get Crazy Joe or one of my amp tech friends to look at it.
Enjoy the pics....and if anybody has any clues about this oddity, I'd appreciate it if you let me know.
Deke

Re: Mosrite Reverb?
Deke, thank you for sharing your findings and letting us all have such a much better look at it!
It's in the right hands now and if anything, you've secured it at least for future research and possible additional info...if it ever proves to be Mosrite historically interesting or significant...

Re: Mosrite Reverb?
Cool pics!
Construction is definitely '60s, PNP germanium transistors, perf board with flea clips.
If the springs go boing, the return circuit and tank output transducer are ok. The problem is in the drive circuit or the input transducer of the tank.
Either take a resistance reading of the tank input or swap the input and output cables and shake the tank again. If the input of the tank makes the boing sound then the tank is ok and the drive circuit needs to be checked. I'd guess that the input transducer will be a high impedance one, with a dc resistance of somewhere around 200 ohms.
Edit: I just noticed the tank is dated late 1965. That should give you an indication of the construction date.

Deke,
That's very cool - I bet you'll get it working. What's that red block thing with the six colored dots on it? Weird...
