Model-400 - Something Went right for me!!

Postby GattonFan » Sun Jul 05, 2009 12:46 pm

Just went and picked this baby up today! Thanks to Adam for alerting me - I usually check Craigslist a couple of times a week, and might have missed this one. She's a beaut - very loud, trem, fuzz, and reverb all work - all original, one owner, extremely clean for its age. Footswitch needs work, as the trem doesn't shut off. Otherwise, I'm a happy camper! Anyone care to venture a guess as to dating this thing? Pix ...

Thanks, everyone - I just had the back off - looks like it had never been opened. 15" Jensen s.n 220643 - Alas, no autographs inside this one. The footswitch plug needs work - looks like the wires either have been cut, or just broke loose from the solder joints. But, man, sounds pretty good - deep springy reverb, and nice fuzz tone ... :D

I would love to hear some sound clips of this one! Congratulations on a great find!

Dennis, let me take a shot at it. You mention 15" Jensen s.n 220643 ...well, "220" is the code for Jensen and "643" translates to the 43rd. week in the 6th year of the decade (I'm at a loss here which decade*) that is, if I understood correctly what I was reading on the website http://www.provide.net/~cfh/pots.html handbrake pointed out to us in a different thread ;)

* probably the decade they started making transistor amps I venture to guess...

Adam (dorckrock), any ideas?

Veenture & GattonFan -

I think that Jensen date code actually reads as the 43rd week of 1966.

1966...wow...that seems a nice early date, Dennis has got himself a little treasure there! :P
