I'm the nut who paid the 2G's for this BG-1000 last week. It is most awesome...well at loud volumes that is. And it is indeed very loud. At low volume, guitar notes have a lot of hair on them. That may be due to leaking old caps or somesuch. I do wanna take it to a tech for that and to get the tremelo/ vibrato circuit happening. Its the first amp I've experienced that actually gets cleaner the more ya turn it up. Although low volume notes are a bit fuzzy (yes, even when the Fuzzrite is off), it has no DC hum whatsoever. It is dead silent in idle.
The Fuzzrite on this thing absolutely sings. It has the great Fuzzrite sound and sustains forever. I've read on this forum where some say the Award amp Fuzzrites sound more compressed. I'd probably go along with that but I haven't given it the A/B acid test against my Sanner, NOS reissue, or the original germanium Fuzzrite the guitarist in my band has.
I realize Moseley had nothing to do with this amp but sell the rights to use his Mosrite name on it. I took the plunge because I am primarily a Ventures collector. The Ventures used this amp in '67 and '68 and I can see why they liked it. It also looks very nice next to the BG-500.

Congratulations Marty, you do have a piece of Mosrite/Ventures history that caused 'quite a stir' in the day, one might say
Glad to hear you like it and the money....well, see it this way: it always comes and goes so...have fun with this bad boy and good luck in getting it up to notch

Re: 1969 Mosrite GB-1000 amp
Great amp! I would have gotten into bidding if it wasn't that costly.
The buzzing that you describe sounds to me like a bias problem in the output stage. Might be as simple as a control adjustment or may require parts. I'm sure that any tech with solid state experience should be able to get you up and running.
I recently saw a schematic for the Fuzzrite that was used in these amps, and I noticed that they were in fact different than the usual pedal versions. So I'd love to hear your opinions regarding the differences in the sounds.
Congrats!

Re: 1969 Mosrite GB-1000 amp
Thanks for the comments folks. I can't describe it as a buzzing problem but very much a "hairy note" problem at low volumes. It's the type of sound that would actually be desired by someone wanting a bit of crunch to their rhythm guitar but it's annoying when your wanting a very clean sound.
I intend to post a youtube audio/video demonstration of the amp and will include an A/B comparison of the built in Fuzzrite vs the footpedal Fuzzrite.

Hey Top Producer, let me know what ya want for one of those horns. I'm having some work done on the BG1000 and the tech sez the horn is blown.

I talked to the person that gave me the horns and he thinks he still has the stands that bolted to the side so you can angle the cab.

I just checked Nokie's status and he hasn't been back to the forum since August 15th. You might try sending him a pm through the forum, maybe that'll get his attention.

Hey John,
I don't know how to pm you off this list but my email is mctippens@gmail.com if you can contact me. I would be interested in the stands and horn.
Thanks!
