Here is my Mosrite V88. Lemme know what you guys think. I'm curious to know what the experts think cuz I'm far from an expert when it comes to Mosrites. Thanks, GTSP

Hey GTSP!!
I remember those models with the special "twilight" or glitter sprinkled finish! They were supposedly available in Black, Midnight Blue(?), Gold, and some type of Red (not C.A.R.). I have seen the Black and the 'Dark' Blue finish. You are in a "Special Family, 1988" of Mosrite Owners in which Uncle Semie was making his last comeback. And a lot of people have agreed over the past few years, had Semie had not gotten sick, there was a darn good chance that maybe Mosrite might of made a full comeback.......

Looking at the photo, It'd be my guess that the neck is wider at the zero fret than the earlier Mosrites. That would have been a definite improvement.

BTW Beautiful guitar. I'd like to see it out of that black case with a lighter background.

Cool guitar! So, I wonder, do all V88s have so much space between the string guide and zero fret?

Cool guitar. 8-) It appears to be in excellent condition, as well.

THere is a guy from nextlevelguitar.com on you tube who talks about his Mosrite M88 he bought in Boston in 1988 & he points out, as he calls it, his "exagerated zero fret". So his has one like this as well. This one here has more space than on my Ranger. He also states that he personally likes the M88's & V88 better because Semie made each one by hand. Is this true?

I agree w/ this. My guitar here is leaps & bounds better than my SG Standard. It is, however< pretty cool to be in a pretty exclusive fraternity of V88 owners. Anybody w/ $800.00 can get an SG. Ya gotta have a little more jack & have to come across the right ad at the right time to get one of these babies. I consider myself lucky to have this guitar.

The history behind this guitar is, including mine here, Semie put 20 guitars up for collateral w/ some investor to get his factory going again. Most likely after his fire in NC. Before paying ther investor back, Semie got sick and (sadly) passed away. This invstor kept them in storage for awhile before selling them. The person from whom I bought this one got two of them. The other was a blue M88. Anybody know who this investor was? What other guitars did he have? When did he start selling them? Most importantly, does he have any left?

I'll post some more pics. After I posted these I also saw that they kinda sucked cuz the guitar is in its case.

Thanks for all the positive remarks about "Shannon 6" (I name all my guitars after my wife. That way I can put my hands on her any time I want w/ no headaches :-)

Great looking guitar. It looks like the fretboard marker dots are larger than in earlier years.

This is the kind of neck I got from Curtis for my project "Parts-Rite" guitar. Larger dots, bound, and space between the zero fret and string guide.
