Vintage Ventures Bass
I bought my wife a Pacific Blue Ventures bass as an anniversary gift. It should be here by Friday and will go nicely with her red Ventures guitar.

The bass is a 1965 model! Here's the neck and body date.

Re: Vintage Ventures Bass
I gave my wife Rachel the bass this morning and she freaked out! It has been hard keeping it a secret for this past week. I still need to replace the non-original solid-shaft pots and tone cap. I should have the new pots tomorrow. I also have a pair of the original smooth Mosrite knobs to complete the project.

Congratulations on the anniversary! That’s one cool looking bass! But is that bridge on backwards? I always thought the metal part was to face the neck of the bass.

Re: Vintage Ventures Bass
You're right, Picture, they did have the string anchor reversed. These photos were from the seller. I reversed tha tailpiece to it's proper orientation when I disassembled the bass for cleaning. Also notice the Baldwin knobs on their pictures. Someone had replaced the pots with solid-shaft Stackpoles, so the original knobs wouldn't work. I rebuilt the electronics with two CTS 250 ohm pots and a NOS CTS wafer cap. The nice folks at Hallmark sold me the NOS early smooth Mosrite knobs. Here it is all done posed next to our '67 Mark I.
